• Chris

Green eyes, Railgun, Dreaming… all Rise… so many innuendos!

    • Man at most I can get two innuendos out of that

      *Am Flanders* XD

      • Honza Prchal

Here’s another – “A Chinese girl with jade green eyes … Do you have any idea how RARE that is?!?” – Egg Shen.
Han Chinese referred to the Venetians the Mongols used to run paperwork in conquered China as “the marble eyed” … at least when they were being semi-polite.

      • Chris

I may be stretching it a little… XD
Tenzin totally has eyes for Jane in panel 6 though!

        • T.R.

Doesn’t look like he’s looking her in the face. :)

“Tenzin, I’m up here. Tenzin. TENZIN.” [Jane then rejigs the projection so it’s her head is 20% lower than it was – so she can appear look Tenzin in the face]

      • Matt [in Middletown]

        It’s not my fault!

        • KBoysx1

          Same!

  • T.R.

Interesting that Jane can modulate her voice to have a private discussion with Tenzin in the middle of the court room. Lowering the volume is one thing, but “quiet” conversations also involve effort to focus the vocal projection to the intended recipients – to minimize the chance for others to hear by mistake. That must be a sweet speaker system in the display rig.

Also, looks like Jane slipped up with her question “You met, I mean dreamt of Nightshade?” I wonder how she thought to ask about a meeting? What does she know here?

    • I actually thought about that. her tower obviously has speakers. also the room, so Its just a mater of where is she speaking from. Maybe we can look for a good way to show that.

      • WolfLordTK

Do you have any idea how ludicrously complicated that system would have to be to sound like a person and come from the direction while isolating it from other people? This would require special amplifiers speakers and a system for tracking holograms while programming sounds as it went and an insane sent of million dollar microphones.

        • WolfLordTK

This also needs so much fibre optic cable systems for non-degrading audio. Millions or billions of dollars per room.

          • You’re making some interesting assumptions based on others assumptions. She’s just speaking quietly to a guy next to her tower when other people aren’t paying attention XD

          • WolfLordTK

That is what the problem is she can do this anywhere (or at least it seems so.)

          • KBoysx1

Or Tenzin has a neural net that displays Jane’s voice so they can privately speak, even over long distances

          • WolfLordTK

Yeah, then how does she talk to the other people and, by the way neural nets are external unless Daniel and Seba show me how they put in under the skull or in it.

          • KBoysx1

            They don’t have toooo…… :)

          • WolfLordTK

Yes, but they will deal with this forever until they can show me how they do it.

          • The adversarial, demanding attitude of the people producing free content for you will only get you so far :P

“Show me how they do it.” Do what? Speak thru speakers? You don’t have a problem with a sentient super-intelligent AI but are mad that she can change which speakers her voice comes thru?

I’d recommend you read the whole comic (either for the first time or again, since you’ve missed some things) before wondering about hypotheticals that aren’t even being shown on the pages yet (you seem to be assuming she can speak to others minds or something?)

          • NickDA

that came out harsher than I can actual imagine Dan’s voice :D

          • I can be harsh! Even fluffy golden retriever’s that just want tummy rubs have teeth ;P

          • KBoysx1

            What about dentures?

          • WolfLordTK

I get fed misinformation from my brother and I have reread the comic three times

          • Delta-v
          • KBoysx1

I apologize thoroughly Daniel. My brother wishes to annoy you

          • NickDA

            They’re multiplying!… awesome.

          • KBoysx1

He has always existed, along with my other little brother… *grumbles* annoying little brothers *grumbles*

          • WolfLordTK

Wow, just wow(italicize for sarcasm please)

          • KBoysx1

Please stop that, it is a bit rude

          • Matt [in Middletown]

            Direct wireless talk to nanobots!
            Plausible, but not likely.
            But we can dream!
Dream of a day when AI can troll the meatbags with voices in their heads from everywhere!

          • KBoysx1

Now I see Sopka with a pineapple avatar with the troll face. Remember guys, if you see a troll, stand still. Stay silent. It might go awat

          • KBoysx1

Or no one cares that the person in court is talking to the witness and friend defending them

        • I guess it would be complicated, but what I meant is that the tower that holds her core has small speakers, and the room has large speakers. Like a phone that connects to a bluetooth speaker

          • WolfLordTK

Sorry, the geek came out but I use my brain to make it more realistic and fact based.

        • NickDA

There was an awesome tech the military was playing around… two tight beamed audio waves, that only at their crossing point turned into audible sound. I’ll try and find the link… was pretty intense. Something like this: https://www.google.com/patents/US3398810, or this: http://ultrasonic-audio.com/acouspade-technical-specification/ this is a pretty good laymans writeup: http://physics.stackexchange.com/questions/96192/is-it-possible-to-create-an-audible-sound-source-in-mid-air-by-intersecting-ultr

Also… your “the geek came out”… you’re very welcome here… We had a plan originally to keep up with the “Science” articles in the Extras section… reference current tech and extrapolate etc. Got delayed and de-prioritized, but I still remember an early brainstorming session with Dan we were talking about the force moment of artificial muscle fibers and if you could effectively make a large scale rotary engine based on muscle fibers (hint: no. cascading rotors could never exceed the torque strength limit of a single rotor)

          • Matt [in Middletown]

Back in the 60’s and 70’s DLOSC IR communication was experimented with. (direct line of sight comms, Infrared.)
Worked decently well, until you had to move, go behind cover, etc.
Active cancellation would be an interesting premise here as well, if using speakers.
(Jane using her “indoor voice” as it were?)

          • WolfLordTK

            Nice!!

  • Matt [in Middletown]

An idle AI is the devil’s plaything.
*Fail trombone and fart noises play from several mobile communicators*

  • KBoysx1

Are we going to hear the Minervan anthem? Please let it be, please let it be… *squeals*

    • KBoysx1

You should do that neural nets thing too! I can see Tenzin drifting through the hallways of the facility

      • too soon for neural nets ;)

        • KBoysx1

All magical theories are proven wrong by them though

          • no magic so far :D

          • KBoysx1

Nothing to see here. Just nanobots, a wheel chair with cool controls, and an AI with amazing beats

(Tenzin looks so grumpy in your sketch above)

            Also: ;D

          • Ian Brown

            tenzin always looks grumpy.

          • KBoysx1

He just looks extra grumpy in that sketch

    • DeNitro

Wow, not nearly as high tech as I assumed,,,
Jane and Tenzin being able by proximity to use something like NFC between her and his in plants to communicate..
But,, My mistake, it is clearly a speech not thought bubble here..

    • Chris

      XD XD XD XD
      Awesome!

    • WolfLordTK

      Wow seba, just wow.

      • WolfLordTK

        Bluetooth 9031

        • WolfLordTK

          1000000 mile range

          • DeNitro

            You need examples of reality,,
1st it’s someone else’s work of fiction – They decide what is real here..
2nd,, In Yr 2000 if someone had told you would be able to own a powerful wireless handheld touch controlled computer you could video chat with people on other side world, watch movies, play games, ect. You would’ve thought them nuts..

But for now, Basicly,,, Welcome to Sci Fi,, where everything hasn’t been invented yet. :-)

          • seriously, is it that odd to have a system that just swaps from une set of speakers to another?

I have a little Bluetooth speaker and its as simple as turn the Bluetooth on in my phone to make the sound come from it

          • DeNitro

            Smile SebasP,
First glance, Yes I thought it was a private electronic communication between Jane and Tenzin, (but wasn’t going to question it.)
I only commented below on my own error after you had posted your sketch explaning a clear answer using audio speakers.

My reply was to WolfLordTK, who seems to forget in this story,, It’s up to the author if Bluetooth has a 1,000,000 mile range.. ;-)

          • KBoysx1

WoldLordTK is young, and naive my friend DeNitro. He has yet to learn the ways of The Demon Archives, and shall fail until he does. He may be but 45 seconds younger than me, but I have read everything in this graphic novel, whilst he has not. So mind not his attitude, as he is just trying to argue with us

          • Delta-v

Hmmm, so are you saying that instead of making honest comments, he is only being a troll, and is therefore subject to the magic “Go-bother-someone-else” button?

            Interesting…. :)

          • KBoysx1

            I need that button :)

          • Delta-v

It comes with being a Moderator. Mods have the power to delete other people’s posts, or in extreme cases, forbid that poster from ever posting here again. I’ve never used it, and I doubt if any of the others have dropped the big bomb, since we don’t want to–but it’s there.

If you see “Mod” in a little shadow box by a name, walk softly. :)

          • KBoysx1

            Thanks for telling me

          • KBoysx1

I think for me it shows a little yellow bar by the name

          • Delta-v

Could be. I only know what it looks like on PCs and Chromebooks,

But for reference the Mods here are @Daniel Sharp:, @NickDA:, @SebasP:, and yours truly @Delta-v:. Whatever indicator you see by those names should mean “Mod”. :)

          • WolfLordTK

            I get no indication, ugghh

          • Delta-v

Huh, what device are you using?

          • WolfLordTK

            Fire HD8

          • I haven’t consider a simple troll, that’s weird here

          • KBoysx1

            It is, isn’t it?

          • DeNitro

Nothing more simple than to troll,, Would truly sadden me to find a discussion area previously filled with the rare enlightened souls becoming a troll haunt.

“Barkeep, damn fine whisky in yer cantina,
Yet there’s a growing smell, horse is getting skittish.
Might soon be time to chase that setting sun..”
            – 《●》 –

          • Delta-v

Nah, it hasn’t come to that yet, and I don’t think it will. Give your horse a bait of oats, and we’ll set you up with another round. :)

          • DeNitro

“Expect you’re right, give me a few minutes, a warm bottle of beer to calm ole Buck, then back to the good times for us all,,,”

To answer your question below, viewing on mobile device doesn’t display the MOD flag.
Yet another argument to simply treat everyone with respect in Disqus community. 😉

          • Yeah I vote for respect, no trolling, and for jokes to actually be funny ;)

          • WolfLordTK

            LIES!!!

          • KBoysx1

            Hush, child. Hush…

          • WolfLordTK

You use those words to often

          • KBoysx1

Please mods, delete these arguments and just leave like, the original comment

          • Nah, you guys can just decide to fight offline instead of online, or delete your arguments yourselves if they bother you :P

I won’t step in until you’re so obnoxious I just ban you both ;P

          • WolfLordTK

Yeah, movie theaters and a bunch of stuff uses this technology with surround sound by detecting echoes and such it is plausible

          • WolfLordTK

            Have you heard of joking?

    • Matt [in Middletown]

      *gasp*
“I have my own magic bleep bloops!” -Eddi

      • KBoysx1

Who is Eddi if I may ask? Is he just a fictional character you use to reference something?

  • KBoysx1

I’ve noticed only two creators of this comic are ever on at a time. It’s like you guys make bets on who gets to relax and who has to endure us :)

    • NickDA

Well, Seba is in Argentina, Dan is east coast, I’m west coast… so there is some timezone magics going on.

      • Matt [in Middletown]

“After many violations of the Time Space Continuum, it was decided that they would do a magic called ‘working in shifts’ to continue the project. And thus an abomination against reality was averted.”

        • KBoysx1

I know a few guys that can mess with the spacetime continuum. He hasn’t given me evidence he can, but I haven’t proved him wrong. They both come from the future, one of them a future version of my classmate, to mess with this world’s version of him. Speaking of time travel, last year I saw a guy that looked, talked, and acted like the 11th doctor walk into a classroom at my school. “Coincidentally,” my teacher that claims to own a time machine appeared around the same time…

    • What Nick said and a lot of coffee from my part to stay awake till 2 am

      • KBoysx1

Probably bets and coffee along with sleep makes all of you being on at the same time impossibility, doesn’t it.

  • KBoysx1

I wonder, if you combined the music’s and Seba’s art with producers, could you create and animated series for it? That would be so cool…

  • Unless Jane’s speaking to him telepathically (very possible, all things considered) she might not want to say this stuff in the middle of a courtroom where people are liable to hear her.

  • KBoysx1

Poor Jane. She thought Tenzin was being flirty. Nope, just Nightshade XD

  • KBoysx1

Do guys, if I day ahem before putting a link or photo in the comments, it gets more attention, right?

    • If you’re thinking of the fan art you made, you can send it to me directly I’ll post it too :)

      • KBoysx1

        Okay

      • KBoysx1

How do I do that? (Me have not skills)
