Comic Spotlight: Stand Still, Stay Silent

Posted by / in Blog / 38 comments

Today I’m happy to heartily recommend the comic, Stand Still, Stay Silent, by Minna Sundberg.  I’ll probably eventually write a whole review about it, but suffice it to say right now that it is a beautifully drawn and very well written post-apocalyptic story, set in Scandinavia, with some magical elements to it.  Very well thought out world with tons of interesting world info, like this image below I’m going to use as a banner. So click it! You won’t regret it! :D

i love this comic SO. SO. MUCH. completely second this suggestion. i haven’t shown it to a single person who didn’t like it.

    • Mistwraith

Preaching to the coverted here fellow Minnion.

  • Thomas Cranor

Awesome to see one of my favorite webcomic authors recommending another!

  • Bing Crosby

I see a cat. I’ll give it a try because it has a cat.

    • Lars_B

there are two cats in that image, and a LOT more in the comic!

      • Matt [in Middletown]

        Cats secretly run everything.

        • “run” or “ruin”? ;P

          • Matt [in Middletown]

My cat assures me that it is “run”.
And that they do not ” ruin” but “improve”.

      • Adriano

        Ahah scouts don’t count ;P

      • Bing Crosby

hm. I just got done reading it from the beginning. Intriguing. I look forward to seeing where it goes. Of course the problem with this and steel salvation & Quantum vibe is that once I’m caught up things slow down worse than Austin traffic. Once I get done with eight RTD, I’m going to be for long, but rest and bored.

        • The nice thing about SSSS is that it updates like…4 times weekly, or something absurdly fast like that.

          • Bing Crosby

Holy frak! I’m going to get spoiled was something like that, it’s going to make waiting for some (naming no names) seem positively glacial.

          • :P Maybe someday we’ll be able to pay Seba enough to work on TDA full time. *looks wistfully at Patreon* ;)

          • Bing Crosby

If I win the lottery I would be happy to be a patron. Unless it’s the Illinois lottery – I hear they’re too broke to pay jackpots over $25,000.

          • Hehe, I tease ;) I’m mostly happy to just have people read and enjoy the story :D

          • Adriano

Yep, that’s an advantage for the readers, but is it really for the author ?

          • Well since she gets paid proportional to how much traffic she brings in, I’d say yes ;)

          • Adriano

Money is not everything, ya know. At least you take time to study and live with your family and speak with your fans o/

Not that Minna doesn’t, but I guess she has to sacrifice a great amount of time for her comic.

And I also guess she doesn’t grow a kid like you or Seba ^^

          • Man, if I had 1000+ commenters on a new page, I wouldn’t be able to talk to you all either XD

          • Adriano

            B-but…
Your logic is breaking my compliments to you xD

      • Bing Crosby

I am assuming the second is the scout?

        • Lars_B

          yep! =)

      • Adriano

I see what u did there

    • Matt [in Middletown]

If you read “A Red Tail’s Dream”, then you know the artist and writer already..

      • Adriano

        aRTD doesn’t really appeal me.
        It lacks of Trolls.

        • Matt [in Middletown]

Well, it does have a troll in the form of the aforementioned redtail as he trolls the human character.

          • Adriano

Meh. I also need some Cleansers to get da job done.

          • Matt [in Middletown]

Hannu spends the majority of aRTD both dead and acting as a cleanser…

    • Wonkle

Hint: The character Lalli is joked about in the comments and forums as being a cat in human form.

  • Adriano

OH MY GLOB YOU DID IT !

Thank you Dan for promoting this most awesomest webcomic !
A step under TDA, though, but a really good one !

    [HEAVY BREATHING]

  • Bing Crosby

    For those who, like me, wonder what it’s about;
think– blue gender meets the Omega Man (novel) dressed like a full metal alchemist.

    • … I haven’t experienced a couple of those so I cannot verify…

I’d summarize it as: Bad stuff exists outside of Scandanavia post world-ending plague. Scout team is sent out there anyways to find old valuables like books, while trying not to get deaded by the bad stuff.

      • Bing Crosby

Oh yeah, that too. I was thinking more about the vibe, I can see with knowing what the story premise is is a good thing.
TDA; The world is going to hell
SSSS; let’s go sightseeing in hell

  • Wonkle

I am a faithful reader of Stand Still Stay Silent. Can’t recommend this comic enough. It’s good story telling and stellar art work that will leave you breathless, along with a good amount of danger and tension periodically.

    • James Hunter

I’m the same in every respect.

  • DrCrazy102

HAHAHAA!!! JUST SAW THIS!! SO EXCITED FOR MORE FANS TO JOIN ME!!
