So I’ve written before about the sweet creative writing class I took from author Brandon Sanderson. One of my writing group buddies from that class is starting/working on a really cool interactive fiction project. Basically, it’s a choose-your-own adventure requiring reader involvement to determine where the story will go next. My friend, the author, writes a couple of pages of the story, and then asks the readers to post what they think will happen next. Then, whichever idea gets the most votes, wins!
This has the potential to be either pretty awesome or pretty disjointed. All it would take would be a really popular person making a really dumb suggestion to ruin the story, so I hope that the author still gets final say on what happens next. They’ve posted up two installments so far, and I made a suggestion for how it should go next. The website is pretty bare-bones simple right now, but the writing is very good. Go take a look, and vote for my suggestion
Do you think that something like this could work for our story too? I don’t know if I’d be willing to release complete control of the story, but I would certainly be up to some audience interaction guiding the process.
EDIT: I started a reddit discussion about it, if people would rather follow that.
