The Birkenhain Journal: March

Lucky for me, nobody could find a wig today, so I just wore lipstick and almost nobody saw it. I got a look or two, but not nearly so much jeering as I got from the guys in the barracks as we left. I got a funny look from Petty Officer Henschel, but see if I care. It was her latrines that got me in this mess.

The Birkenhain Journal: February

I finally made it to Leipzig. It was stupid of me, so stupid, to try walking there this time of year. I really had hoped for no snow, but it was worse than ever. I’m lucky to have all my limbs. I’ve only barely warmed my hands enough now to write.

There are lots of other guys—and a number of girls, too—taking the train for the same reason as me. It must be even more desperate out there. They’ve reduced the cost to only a quarter of the usual price for Rostock and other bases.

The Birkenhain Journal: January

During the course of my research into the causes of The War, I came across an interesting record. Glaucus only had a digital copy, preserved by noted historian Sarah Driffill, the original document having fallen to pieces long ago. It is a first person account of the 2014 Corpus Christi Invasion, and potentially the earliest known record of the Plague of Fire. While I cannot account for the veracity of the events as stated by the author, it does certainly provide many interesting pieces of information, and confirm a few of my own theories. I’ve copied the entire text of this, the Birkenhain Journal, along with a few of my annotations throughout.
