Good afternoon readers! We hope that you are doing well. Our goal with this post is to give a little break down on the things that we did this month, as well as the things that we have in mind for next month. So here goes:

  • Facebook - We’ve been working hard on getting our Facebook community up and running, and we have been having a ton of success in the 13 - 25 year old demographic, and especially in Argentina and other South American countries. Due to this next month we will be focusing on the Spanish translated release of the page as a whole and of the comic pages up to date. We won’t be translating each and every blog post, as that would take more time then it would be worth, but every page will be translated and the base website pages like the “about us” will also be multi-lingual. Just some tidbits, over 100 thousand people have seen something about our Facebook page, and on average 3 thousand people see our daily updates. We are growing Fans/Likes at a rate of about 100 per day.
  • DeviantArt - Seba is helping to build our network at DeviantArt since he has the most experience using that medium. We also setup the Cover and Inner Covers as prints that you can order in a variety of sizes directly from them. We’ve got a few in the mail as Christmas gifts, so we will post some un boxing photos when we are able. We will continue to offer prints via Deviant Art, but are also looking into hosting our own shop and finding a local printer for custom orders.
  • Money Making - We are trying not to worry about cashflow. This is a labor of love and is Nick’s best excuse to have daily communication with his brother Dan, and to get an idea out of his head into a permanent media. That said, there are costs to this project, both in the server and in the artists. So one of the ways we’ve tried to offer the best of both worlds is with affiliate programs. If you need webhosting, we can help you out and we get a kick back. If you buy on Amazon or Newegg… we can also help. So please check out our get involved sections for ways that you can help us out at no additional cost to yourself. Our goal is to avoid using crap ads on the site, and one way to help is by using our affiliate links. Next month we will be setting up a members only section and thinking about ways to make premium memberships a valuable offering to you as readers.
  • Getting better at writing - Nick is writing the Science sections and is having a hard time using a consistent “voice” for that section, so we will be trying a lot harder to be better writers for you. For those readers who have found errors in the pages… Thank you! Not only is it gratifying to know that our readers are more than just blips in our analytics, but it is great to know that you care enough to comment and let us know.

So that’s about it. Nick has an experiment planned next month for some pretty crazy and fun ways of reading the comic. They will be cooler once we get more pages in place, and especially once we get to the action sequences at the end of chapter 1. But keep your eyes peeled for some fun coming around the corner. Also, just as a heads up, in 2013 we plan on making an iOS, Android, and Windows 8 application so that users of those devices can have an even better experience than what our mobile website offers.

Thanks for your readership, and remember, there is a ton of free stuff in our giveaways, and the only “cost” of entry is sharing the word via whatever social media form you prefer.

Enjoy the rest of November,

-Webmaster (Nick in 3rd person hehe)

Sorry I haven’t posted in a couple of days. Between Thanksgiving and Hurricane Sandy cleanup, it has been a very busy weekend for me. I’m guessing it has been busy for you too, because our readership was down over the weekend. Hopefully people had a good Thanksgiving holiday, maybe got some goo shopping done too. If you like to shop on Amazon or Newegg, please check out our Affiliate links, so that you get your shopping while supporting our project at no extra cost.

Good news! I finished my anatomy block yesterday, and I think all my tests went very well. I haven’t seen my scores yet, but my professors were very nice in how they wrote the test. Many of the questions came directly from practice exams they provided us. I am very grateful for that, because (as you’d know if you read my previous posts) I didn’t get enough studying time in due to lots of babysitting.

So now I’ve started my next course, Cardiovascular and Pulmonary, which should be fun. It’ll be this until Christmas. I’m very excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas break, to have a bit of time off to relax and not have to study.

But enough about me. The project is going quite well. As of writing this, our Facebook page has over 370 likes! That’s crazy! I only know about 40 of them too, so they aren’t even all my friends. A lot of them speak Spanish, so rest assured that we are going to be working hard at making our webpage as bilingual as possible.

Keep your eyes open for the latest Science article posted later today, and keep on liking and reading.
