Tenzin returned to the entrance and followed Jorge’s gaze up to the girl hanging by her blood-stained dress from the inside of the blast door. He hadn’t noticed her at first due to the mass of bodies inside, but one look into her glassy eyes relegated his anger at the carnage around him to a distant corner of his mind.

Tenzin signaled his pentad to take up positions around the entryway before continuing the last couple of metres. Reaching out his gauntleted fist, Tenzin knocked on the massive door. The resounding booms filled the air, echoing in his ears for a moment before fading to utter silence. As the seconds ticked by, Tenzin looked impatiently at the video camera observing them.

Lucas waved his hand urgently from behind the squad, ruining the warmth of the moment for Tenzin. Nodding to Viktor to take over the preparations, Tenzin stepped to the side and waved the engineer over.
“Captain Dorje!” Lucas yelled as he rushed over. “What about my team? You can’t just leave us here.”

Tenzin turned away from Lucas and the others and lowered his voice. “Jane, what’s the latest on raider activity in this area?”
Jane began speaking rapidly directly into Tenzin’s earpiece. “The latest report from Oculus was clean for this sector, but my own analysis of their source data does indicate the possibility of a new raider enclave two valleys over. I can’t give you anything more without more information.”

Tenzin woke from his reverie when Viktor leaned over and tapped him sharply on the forehead. “You awake in there, droogan?”
Tenzin smiled at the tall blonde. They’d fought side by side against thugs and raiders alike long before they joined Minerva. Since Viktor never let Tenzin’s rank get in the way of their friendship he was one of the only people Tenzin felt comfortable with.
