Veteran’s Day

First off a bit of a disclaimer: This webpage is an international apolitical project. We are never going to comment for or against any specific military or political action, and for or against any specific international agenda etc. That said, there is a holiday in the United States called Veteran’s Day. It is a day to remember our nations military Veterans. Men and Women who have given time, blood, sweat, tears and even their lives to a cause. We will strictly avoid any attempts to justify or vilify that cause, and please respect that position in the comments below. But we did want to say a large Thank You to the men and women who serve their country in this way. And a special thank you to our Uncle who we care deeply for, and for whom we hold the utmost respect.

There is something very noble about people willing to serve for others in this fashion. Even though the things they are sometimes called about to do, and all war itself, can be full of circumstances and situations which themselves are very ignoble . We would like to thank all the men and women who, throughout the world, are willing to put their own personal safety on the line in serving what they consider the interest of their country men. And we wish to raise our voices to the hopes for a better future where less violence is needed, both internally within a nation-state, and in external affairs.

Hopefully we can see a future where less families are affected by the need for enforcement through violence. Where children don’t have to grow up in fear or without absent parents. And where people are valued and can interact based on who and what they are, rather than where they were born or choose to live. However, whilst we continue in this imperfect world and imperfect society, let it be very clear that vilifying the men and women who have taken upon themselves such a horrible job, is both pathetic and hypocritical. At least we can look forward to the future where increases in technology can continue to reduce the standing size of the military, so that less individuals and families are affected by this service. Even better, we can fantasize about a future where military force is not needed, and perhaps pray that it is not just a fantasy.

That said, if you are following our story, our main character is Tenzin, a professional soldier serving to protect filial units of his parent organization Minerva. He is a severely messed up person who suffers from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and incredible Loss and Grief issues. As such we’ve done a lot of reading into things like this, and have spoken with veterans where the occasion has allowed us. This is a very real issue affecting thousands of people on a daily basis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posttraumatic_stress_disorder. We would invite you to take some time to think about how we can help the individuals, even if you personally disagree with the military cause. A quick google for PTSD charity gave us all of these: https://www.google.com/search?q=PTSD+charity . We cannot recommend any one over the other, but sometimes it feels good to help.

Here’s our thoughts here at the Demon Archives: We’ll donate 25% of any income we get from sales of our art in 2012 to the best Veteran’s Charity we can find. If you like some of the stuff you are seeing, you can get amazing quality prints made through Deviant Art. Check out our store: http://thedemonarchives.deviantart.com/ If there is any specific request for art, just drop us a line and we’ll see what we can do. Thanks always, and let us know your thoughts.
