So today I woke up to a text from Dan that “reddit had found our site”. First reaction was “shit shit fire ze missiles”… I mean “shit shit… did the site go down?”. But then I realized it was a nice post by a cousin(?) of ours on a relatively niche subreddit and it didn’t get much traction. So I breathed a sigh of relief mixed with sad. reddit.com/domain/www.demonarchives.com
Which got me to thinking I should probably start being more active with my account on there. I’ve been a long time lurker on Reddit for years now, with my wife calling it “that site” since I am always browsing on my phone. But about a month ago I made a DemonArchives account and have been trying to get involved in the comic related sub reddits. I have always loved the format of the site and enjoy the jokes and pics that usually make it to the front page.
And then I had the brightest idea of my career: why build in a stinking forum into our site, when Reddit does that forum-ey community aspect like a madman… So I quickly grabbed up the DemonArchives subredit: http://www.reddit.com/r/demonarchives/, there is nothing there, I know we suck.
So maybe here in 2013 instead of trying to get our readers to use a shitty horribly ugly and slow forum software, we are probably going to push them towards our subreddit and use that as a forum for sharing, fan art etc. And if they come to know the true love of r/politics and kitty cat pictures, then its all for the greater good right?
So anyways, thanks reddit for being a source of continual distraction and wasted… I mean cherished time!
PS, If we ever get front paged I think our site can handle it, cuz the guys at Firehost are awesome… but also if we ever get frontpaged I’m gonna include Snoo and a direct reference to Reddit into the webcomic! That’s a promise!
