Chapter 4: Page 12 - A Present

Posted by / in Comic / 34 comments

It’s been a pretty good week so far.

In case you missed it, on Monday’s page there were some links to guest artist Nico Leon’s various websites. A couple of them have some Easter eggs ranging from mild to major spoilers, so go take a look.

Also, on Tuesday we had another entry in the great collaborative piece by webcomic creator Josh Conner, The Undying Voice of Julius Gordon. You really should read it, because it is quite excellent.

And yesterday we posted an interview with webcomics überfan Michael Kinyon, where he shares a lot of his thoughts about webcomics and how we can make them better.

So check those two out and leave some comments to let me know what you think. And then come back here and let us know what you think about Nico’s art. I like it!

Way to go Indira. Wishing Tenzin luck is like asking if things can get any worse.

    • Hehe. And she did say it was a beautiful day. That must mean it’s about to start raining too. :)

And hi cuz! How is learning…physics (?) going?

      • Jeremy Reiman

It’s been rough. I’ve got my modern physics final in about three hours. So close to being done.

        • Much luck! … oh wait … ;)

Modern physics… did it change recently? I’m sure you’ll crush it :D

          • Jeremy Reiman

Some guy named Einstein thought some stuff up not too long ago, I guess. I’m not sure if I should trust his theories though. Being called an Einstein is an insult after all so he can’t be too smart.

          • Well his ideas are new, but it’s not like physics changed, was my point :P

          • NickDA

Its not like physics changed he said… scoff scoff… True in the sense that when we realized the equation and constants for earths gravity pull and air resistance that firing cannon balls didn’t change… or that when we figured out the earth wasn’t round it didn’t really “change”…

True from one world view point (Platonic, all we are seeing is an abstraction tainted by our inability to perceive the real) but drastically different from the empiricist viewpoint that: who cares about the ideal if I can’t interact with it, and its presence our non presence doesn’t effect my interaction with the current perception…

And I’ll just go be a geek elsewhere now :D …

    Two, nay three, things:

    1) Good on Indira for standing up to his lashing out. His behaviour is understandable, but still can cause pain.

    2) I’ve got a bet with myself for when Indira bites it (or gets permamently abducted). It’s not just the foreshadowing, but she’s NICE in a postapocalyptical story. That’s kinda as wise as stalking a serial killer with a flashlight or taking a trip through vaccuum without a spacesuit.

    3) I just realized that the ultimate mindscrew for Tenzin would be Indira going “screw being the huntee, I’m gonna be a hunter” and become a raider in her own right.

    • All good thoughts. 2 and 3 are a little mutually exclusive, though, but I think you’ll find it interesting how the events of this sequence affect Tenzin in the next several.

      • Well, sometimes the nicest people make the scariest villians. *g*

To be honest, my thought process was “poor girl, you got a countdown on your head” and then “having to fight her would really do a number on Tenzin’s psyche”. So, no predictions, just thoughts.

        • Ooh, did I finally convince you to make a login :D

You are totally right that that would destroy Tenzin’s psyche. I’m not sure even I’m that heartless to put him through it though. I do have plenty of psyche busters for him lined up already though, so don’t you fret ;)

  • Jason Clayton

well, i believe that the Easter egg i found will be showing up Monday

    • Very possible. Not the Easter egg I was going for, though ;)

  • NickDA

Eight winners out of five? Wow, that’s efficiency! :) Do you still have my mailing address on file?

      • NickDA

Indeed I do… and literally a box in my closet that never got mailed and got brought with me on the move :D

  • Michael

Such great movement in that bell ringing panel.

  • Neil Kapit

Tenzin’s dad will save the day with the Avatar State….oh wait, wrong Tenzin. This Tenzin’s life will just get harder…

  • Mark White

no rest for the soon-to be wicked!

    • Soon to be wicked? What do you mean?

      • Mark White

one of the two is probably going to get a bit vengeful, maybe a bit too far…….

        • Ah now I understand. An astute observation :)

          • Sebastián Píriz

in spanish we say “pisaste el palito”

  • Bryan Raines

I love how serene this page starts. The writing is amazing as always. It really shows the calm before the storm.

  • Marisa Brenizer

    Really realistic, impressive facial expressions.

  • I like Indira, who is much more charismatic than Tenzin by far, and well… since this is a dark story, she is not long for this world.
Seems like Tenzin reacts to everything with anger/annoyance.

    • My wife and I were just talking about how people have different innate reactions to things. Some people immediately respond with anger, other’s with sadness/self doubt, others with optimism. I think you can tell that Indira and Tenzin have very different outlooks ;)

  • Hipopótamo

This is an action story, of course they had to be interrupted by imminent danger, just when Tenzin was mellowing for once…

    • Well, better than me spending a couple of dozen pages showing him pick his nose while laying on the grass ;)

  • Oh! A present!

  • Adriano #WR

I love the art style !

  • They never get a break, do they? :( Indira is cute!

  • STL Orca

    Indira is just adorable.
