Chapter 6: Page 12 -Savior or Destroyer?

Posted by / in Comic / 81 comments

Yeah…Tenzin has self esteem issues, that’s for sure.

Don’t forget to vote and stuff! There’s a new vote incentive up, showing Jane’s new look for a later chapter. Patreon is always there for those who want to help us pay for hosting and ads and etc. And you should definitely check out the latest chapter in Mirage, the short story about Thalia, a future protagonist :D

Who can find the nightmare pages referenced on this page? 500 MCs apiece ;)

  • Good find :)

  • Dusty Coyote

Tenzin needs perspective. Nothing changes your point of view like standing on your head.

“but Coyote, Standing on your head is easy!”

Then you are doing it wrong. See below.

    Scorpion pose.

    • Tenzin could do that

      • Adriano

And you can draw that ;)

        • challenge accepted!!

          • Adriano

This is my face reading your com :

          • caption this

          • OK, this might actually need to end up being on a page now :D

          • Adriano

Ahah, I love comment section jokes becoming canon :D

          • Dusty Coyote

I’m stealing full credit for this.

          • I love that it’s now your icon :D

          • Adriano

Oh man xD This is so good :’D

          • Matt [in Middletown]

“I saw a one armed, one legged, hopping purple Peeps eater”?
            Oh, easter is over, darnit.

          • Switch out “peeps eater” for “raider killer” or something :P

          • Matt [in Middletown]

            Hopping raider murdilator.

          • Dusty Coyote

            I’m gonna icon this somehow.

          • Amati

ok…. you win. he can do that….

          • “Hold on, I think I see a penny.”
“Well at least he’s not sticking his foot in his mouth.”
“This episode brought to you by the letter I.”
“Staying at the YMCA just isn’t the same anymore…”
“You do chorus lines your way, and I’ll do it my way!”
Oh, I could go on forever…

          • Random aside, there are a bunch of new comments on the Birkenhain Journal :)

          • What a nice surprise! Thanks for letting me know.
Incidentally, I gave you a cameo a few days ago, in case you want to see Tenzin’s life sucking less than usual.

          • I’d seen the page but missed the cameo!

http://princesschroma.thecomicseries.com/comics/213 Everybody! Tenzin and Indira showed up together in a happy cameo apperance! :D

          • Matt [in Middletown]

I can see Tenzin during the fitting of prosthetic limbs:
“Does it come with built in weaponry?”
“No Tenzin, it’s just an arm.”
“But.. I want a built in scattergun, Like Mr. Batou!”
*Doc looks mystified, never having been exposed to old(by then) Anime movies nor Ghost in the Shell..*

      • Amati

        not anymore, he can’t…..

        • pstt… wait and see

          • Guest

pretty much what i expected you to say. :P
don’t tell me, but i’m guessing badass prosthetics.

          • I still have to design those prosthetic. the badass ones and the not-badass ones ;)

  • Matt [in Middletown]

    “Player Two start!”

    • Adriano

      “Player Two defeated !”

      • FATALITY!!

        • Adriano

          “Tenzin Wins !!!”

        • Matt [in Middletown]

“Flawless Victory. TShang Tenzin wins, Fatality.”

  • Ydo Ucare

Didn’t any therapists survive the apocalypse? I feel like Tenzin should have already been working with a professional on some of these issues.

    • Maybe he was… that actually leads to an important little detail of the story

    • There definitely are, Tenzin just purposefully misses and avoids his appointments (as you can see on Chapter 1 Page 5 and 6) :)

      • Matt [in Middletown]

“Go away Doc, I’m hanging out with Jane today!”

  • Adriano

Wow, the new incentive is Jane ? omg my first reaction was “Who’s that gorgeous babe ?” Ahahahah Jane is always the best !

    • yep, Jane’s new look after chapter 6

      • Adriano

        She’s seeeeeeeeeexy *3*

  • Adriano

In the last panel, you did an awesome job, Seb ! I love the design of Tenzin when he stands up, all distorted by his anger and murderous drive.

    Excellent !

    • Thanks !!

      • Adriano

        You’re welcome :)

  • This page needs a “director’s track”

first, there are references to two different nightmares ( Marteen already found em)
second, you are seeing here the real memories, not the distorted ones from the nightmares ( people originally asked about the super sharp machete)
and third, there’s a very subtly hint in the page about something important

    • Seba and I LOVE super secret subtle hints :D

      • Maarten Spreij

You guys had me browsing the archives for over an hour after work, I can’t stand mystery! :-p All I noticed was the floor pattern with the head was not that of the pub /or/ the city square (second reference), but I can’t find it anywhere else either, soo.. yeah. Mystery! (well, and Viktor’s knife is missing, but, dreams..)

        • Huh, well unless Seba was trying something with those, I’m thinking of a different subtlety. But if you didn’t notice this same hint on previous pages, you wouldn’t pick it up here. It’s sneakier here ;)

          • Nope, that is a mistake from my part, I didnt look for the floor on Nico’s pages. I wont give any hints but I promise it is there, I will only say: think as if you were there with Tenzin and the monk talking.

          • Randomly just noticed that panel 3, Rinzen’s speech bubble has a smudge in it (I thought it was on my screen) :D

          • NickDA

Maybe if we look closer at the text bubbles :D

          • Maarten Spreij

Damnit! /me starts browsing through history again

          • hahaha, there are hints, but you dont depend on those to find the one from this page

          • Since the odds are you won’t notice the secret hints (no one has), I’ll at least narrow your search to Chapter 5 and beyond :P

    • Matt [in Middletown]

Well, the head on the floor is looking up at him.
      But that’s not the hint.

      • Nah that’s just a creepy nightmare reference ;)

        • Matt [in Middletown]

          “I see you!”
          *Soccer punt*

      • I originally wanted the head to be rolling to his feet, but it was distracting

        • Matt [in Middletown]

And once again, the movie “the borrowed year” pops to mind with the Green Knight saying “Body, come to me!”

    • Tamara Haitaka

Is he hacking himself in the last few panels? It seems like someone wearing light body armour like he is, but then with shoulder things… Is it someone he knows and actually doesn’t mean to hurt?

      • It’s supposed to be one of the raiders he killed in the nightmare you linked to below. He beheads one of them almost magically in his nightmare, and this is showing closer to what actually happened.

  • Delta-v

“All I do is destroy.” He says that like it’s a bad thing………

    • Surviving gets rough after a while, when no one else does.

      • Delta-v

Especially when you blame yourself for their deaths. Even more especially when that’s at least partly true. War is not a sane enterprise. :(

    • Adriano

      He’s crazy, I told you !

    • Matt [in Middletown]

Harlan Wade from FEAR 3 to the player Point Man character: “Destroy at the molecular level like HE can!”

  • Tamara Haitaka

The severed head belongs to this guy, where Tenzin kills thugs, but didn’t save the woman…

    http://demonarchives.com/chapter-4-page-31-caught-pants/

    • Correct! 500 MCs (Minerva Credits, someday redeemable for merch discounts) each :D

    • Maarten Spreij

      NNGH! :-D

  • Tenzin watches at the whiteness and feels alone, Later he brutally removes a guy’s head… soo… who has Netflix?

( edit: just to be clear here, I did this page a couple of months ago )

  • Well at least he’s able to pinpoint what he’s feeling. That’s…something?

  • Michael Corley

See, this is why I’ve stayed away from military service. Creepy dreamscapes.

    • Matt [in Middletown]

Nothing much to worry about, just having recurring dreams in Basic training during Basic Rifle Marksmanship week of shooting the target and it not going down.
And talking in your sleep about it.
While assuming a prone position on your bunk.
While everyone watches you dream about invincible targets.

      • Delta-v

Your dreams are more interesting than my whole life. :)

        • Matt [in Middletown]

          That was PFC Buck.
We all heard sometime around 0100: “It’s not going down! Why won’t it go down?!”
So we kinda sneak around the corner of the barracks, and there’s Buck, sitting prone on his bunk as if he had a rile in his hands.
He bounces slightly as if he’s just fired.
Then he exclaims “Why won’t the S.O.B. go down?!”
          .
Reason for the dream, we went to South Rets rifle range at Fort Sill, and that range had a certain Immortal Target.
The machine would count the hit, but the target would sit there mocking you the entire time.
Normally, they would register the hit and drop.
So Buck emptied his entire magazine into that one target.
          .
          Me?
I got stuck with a silt filled foxhole, so when I fired, I slid.

          • Sean

He shot lane six didn’t he that lane had three targets THAT WOULD NOT GO DOWN, at least people are easier, even if they had body armour they at least fall no matter the (military round .22 don’t do shit) round.

          • Matt [in Middletown]

I don’t remember which lane it was, it has been since 1996, but I do recall the immortal target and his cussing about it.
I also recall North Rest being the better range.
No targets partially hidden behind stumps.

          • Adriano

Ahah this is why I want to go in the army

          • Matt [in Middletown]

So you can have bizarre memories of watching stuff go down that nobody will believe later?
            It was fun.
            *lol*

          • Adriano

Simply to have good memories, ahah.

  • Nate

Something I just noticed about this page; In the top panel, Tenzin’s armor has a crack over it on the left side. The location exactly mirrors the location of the plate on his chest visible on page 13 in chapter 5. This seems odd, since if Tenzin is in a coma, how would his brain know the location of the damage to such accuracy?

    • Good question! It’s more of a visual cue for the readers that it is supposed to be the same armor as in the nightmare in chapter 4.

The chest plate in 5 is actually an ECG monitor, not an indication of damage.

      • theRoUS

Besides, maybe Jane is projecting (or Tenzin is picking up on) what she knows..

  • Citrus Reaper

Holy hell. This is getting intense.
