Chapter 6: Page 13 - Slip of the Tongue

Posted by / in Comic / 30 comments

Poor Jane. Took up too much of her processing power creating the visual narrative, forgot to think things through all the way.

In the Life of Dan this week, my car broke down and I had to tow it in to the shop. Hoping it isn’t too expensive of a fix. If it is I may resort to begging more directly than by just having the Patreon banner below ;) EDIT: Grand total $300. Needed a new battery. So, not horrible, but I’ll never say no to some financial support :D

Make sure you check out the fan art we posted, as well as the webcomic review by Delta-v. EDIT: And the fun sketch Seba drew of Tenzin zipping around in a wheelchair :)

  • Nate

Wow, Tenzin seems to developing a grudge towards Jane with all this. It seems he really doesn’t want interference in his own head.

    • Voduxe

Uhh… duh? I don’t like having a second voice in my head. One is enough.

      • Matt [in Middletown]

…writers and artists have hundreds of voices all vying for their attention trapped within their minds…
        / kidding

        • Delta-v

          No, that sounds about right…….

          • Matt [in Middletown]

            *Sssssh!*
Don’t let on that it is right!
            They’ll hear us!

        • Voduxe

As a writer myself, I can’t say I’ve had that problem. I’ve only ever had two. I hate the other guy. He’s kinda been.. uhh… rude? Ever since her popped up 14 years ago.

          • Matt [in Middletown]

Well, if he’s going to be rude, he doesn’t get any cookies.
That might make him act properly.

        • Adriano

That’s no kidding, I got that thing… Pretty annoying when the main voice is a shitty dictator bastard that wants me to laugh at people’s death.
No wonder why people think I’m weird…

          • Matt [in Middletown]

I have a genetically modified critter that may have once been a rabbit telling me what his character will and won’t do in between various oddball behaviors.
Makes typing really difficult when your mental movie projector is on random and the subject character is neurotic.

          • Adriano

            Ahah, sounds funny and crazy.

          • Matt [in Middletown]

Well, more than one of them.

  • Matt [in Middletown]

    Darn, he’s being too clever

Of course, we saw panels where he overheard people talking to him, perhaps someone mentioned she survived offpanel and he DID hear it?
I recall someone mentioning Tamale Dinner….?

    • You are welcome to go back to Chapter 4 and check ;)

      • Matt [in Middletown]

I don’t expect that we get to see everything, some things can occur offpanel.
I do wonder if he recalls the tamale dinner comment.

    • Maarten Spreij

Yah.. and how can he know what his subconscious does and doesn’t know? Subconsciously I know the telephone number of my ex of years ago I’m sure, but I’ll be damned if I can recall it..

      • Matt [in Middletown]

        Good question.

  • Michael Corley

Memory can be SO hard to remember!

  • Ohh, Tenzen is still sharp! Nice one.

  • Dusty Coyote

The subconscious is extremely efficient. Being that the last thing he saw was helicopters coming and the kid still standing, it would have categorized that immediately. In fact, his comment of saving Indra, means he acknowledged that he succeeded. Thus, his subconscious assumes the kid is safe and recovering. It’s not that much of a stretch. Tenzin has built too many layers of I’m a horrible person, which the subconscious assumes is the state he wants (It really is that simple) and its resisting changes because feeling like he’s making a difference in spite of losing his friend not what he programmed it to do. Infact, you subconscious doesn’t follow causality. And if causality gets thrown out the window then bird of paradise.

    • Dusty Coyote

      Bird of Paradise pose ^

      • That’s actually a pretty easy pose for Tenzin

  • Now that was a sloppy mistake. But I gotta hand it to Tenzin for being sharp enough to catch that. Maybe he’s a little more intelligent than I’ve been giving him credit for.
    Too bad intellect =/= wisdom.

    • Part slip up, part high stakes gamble :)

      • Matt [in Middletown]

She should use some of his thinkspace for things, it would give him less of a chance to be that clever.

        • She may in the future, but at the moment her level of integration with his “thinkspace” isn’t high enough to be able to do it, let alone to risk it.

          • Matt [in Middletown]

            Hmm.
            Drats

  • Pemigewasset ex pat

    Done outsmarted herself

  • Tamara Haitaka

Yay! A main character that thinks logically ^^

  • Adriano

    MACHETE TENZIN KILLS !
The new movie of the century, by Minerva Prouction !
Soon in your nearest theater !

  • Citrus Reaper

This is all so cinematic. As with most things, I’m sad this isn’t an animated series.
