• I think it’s working. It’s coming across what Jane’s trying to do, and how Tenzin’s reacting to it, so to me, there’s no need to drag out these into multiple scenarios like you could in a novel.

    • Yeah multiple pages of Tenzin going “huh?” as Jane explains it in detail just doesn’t work as well visually as it does in pure text :D

      • Delta-v

A properly drawn picture really is worth 1000 words. Or in this case, 2000.

        • You’ve found me out! A main reason we hired Seba was because I was too lazy to write all those words ;)

  • Deoxy

And now we see the real problem. He’s not “stuck” in his dreams, he just doesn’t have the will to live anymore. He’s taken too much loss, and he would rather die than risk any more.

Good luck, Jane. That’s a deep, deep hole to pull someone out of.

    • Exactly. Well, with maybe a little bit of “stuck” ;)

      Excellent observation :)

    • Maarten Spreij

She can do it. She can just force-feed him happy dreams until he recovers. Wish that it were so in reality..

  • Rats. Caught up to realtime! Nice page-turner, Dan, Seba, et alia!

Oh dear. He’s just put his surviving foot in it. *She* is “out there”, after all!

    • Welcome to the present :D

      • Dusty Coyote

The Present: Where updates are a gift

  • “You can’t die, I’ll be so bored.”

  • Matt [in Middletown]

“Then I’ll wear you as a skin suit. Nighty night sweet prince, I’m going for a walk.”

    • Creeper :P

Jane would never do this, but Nick and I DID write a short story draft where this basically happens ;) Maybe I’ll share it with the class sometime.

      • Matt [in Middletown]

That would be one way to wake him up.
        “Hey, what are you doing?”

I’m getting drunk and dancing, Tenzin. You should join me.

        • Maarten Spreij

“Hey Tenzin, that guy over there’s really cute, don’t you agree?”

          • Matt [in Middletown]

            LOL!
I can see Tenzin freaking out over that one.

          • Hornet

Wait so Tenzin and Viktor weren’t that way already?

  • Hornet

She’s going to kick him in his synaptic relays, isn’t she?

  • She finally got his attention only to discover he’s turned into an emo kid. Splendid.

    • Hehe, well how would YOU help him not be so emo? ;)

      • Chris

That boy needs to get himself la…

    • Nah, he needs to grow his hair out over just one eye and start wearing black eyeliner first.

      • Oh god no. He still has SOME self respect left ;)

  • Have you ever been asked why you chose a name that sounds like a swords and sorcery adventure? I specifically avoided DA on that assumption-& maybe others are, too-until you introduced yourself in the SSSS comments explained a bit.

    • Yes, often. By now, it’s just momentum, but at the time, coming up with a name was hard. Originally it was spelled Daemon, as in the computer Daemon, but we were worried about people failing at spelling and name recognition for some reason, so we simplified it to Demon, especially after we decided that there was plenty of symbolism there too.

So yeah, in retrospect, I sometimes wish we had a different name, but I think The Demon Archives works.

      • It certainly has worked its way to an established Brand. Even if it is shaping up as PTSDemon Archives (or something like) as it goes, changing now is probably moot.

        • New official slogan ;) I seriously laughed out loud :D

Which reminds me, I need to do some more reading of at least secondary PTSD accounts and research to make sure I write Tenzin correctly. I want to do this justice.

          • “For what else do we exist but to amuse our neighbors, and to laugh at them in our turn.” :)

          • I have to admit, I thought it was going to be fantasy at first blush as well, not because of the title, but because of the cover page. I took the symbolic visuals a bit too literally. If you make a print version, it may be a good idea to make sure the comic cover has a more sci-fi look to it, just in case this sort of thing keeps cropping up.

          • Oh yeah the comic cover is very sci fi, as is the first pages of the comic now.

        • Delta-v

As I discovered when I asked, lo, these many months ago, dealing with PTSD has always been a part of the story.

As much as I enjoy the action, I’m pretty interested to see how dealing with the aftermath of trauma turns out.

      • Maarten Spreij

I really like the name. It can cover both. There’s a lot of archiving in science, and (Vernor Vinge) some of them come with AI demons. And if there’s a thin line between sufficiently advanced technology and magic, well, sorcery isn’t far off..

  • Ac0lyte

i just discovered DA last week. Thank you!

    • Awesome! Hopefully you’ve enjoyed it :D

And thanks for the pledge on Patreon! (that was you, right? Email looks the same) :D

    • Maarten Spreij

      Lucky you!

  • Michael Corley

And so we come to it.

  • Adriano

I wanna react to what one say on earlier pages.
He said “if Tenzin die, Minerva will fall apart and sink”…
Well, my opinion is that, with or without him, Minerva will fall apart and sink…
You can’t win forever, Minerva… I’m waiting for your fall, right there in that dark corner, enjoying the scenery while drinking fresh blood…

(Okay, that one was creepy like hell, oh fuck xD)

    • Delta-v

Um, have you been chatting with Matt behind our backs? You guys are starting to talk like each other more and more (actually that’s not a bad thing.) :D

Minerva does have flaws-every human grouping does-it will only last as long as the people there are willing to work on those flaws. If history is any guide, however, you will eventually be right, though it may last for several hundred years. :(

      • Matt [in Middletown]

        Heh heh heh.
What was all of our character alignments again?

        • Definitely chaotic, I know that at least :P

          • Matt [in Middletown]

We might trade character alignments throughout.
            *The following is a dramatization*
“Okay, you’re lawful evil this week.”
“So who’s the Lawful Good paladin?”
            *Everyone eyes Seba.*
            “What?”

          • what?

          • Matt [in Middletown]

            Congrats!
            You’re the Paladin this week!

      • Adriano

Well, if we have, it must have been some unconscious telepathic discussion xD

I can wait… As long as Minerva fall, I can wait… Ahah… Ahahah… AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH ! *evil laugh intensifies*

  • Matt [in Middletown]

Sidenote, if anyone knows or uses wordpress XSS (cross site scripting) there is a flaw in it that allows an attacker to do some pretty crappy stuff.

Like inject javascript baddies into your site.

    http://www.itnews.com.au/News/403231,wordpress-patches-critical-xss-vulnerability.aspx

    • NickDA

More clearly: If you have wordpress at ALL then update. XSS isn’t something that you use… it is the attack. So if you have wordpress and IF you are using wordpress comments, then the exploit can happen when you go to moderate.

      • Matt [in Middletown]

If you know anyone who uses wordpress, let them know.

  • Oh, snap, Tenzin. :|

  • Citrus Reaper

    Dammit Tenzin!

  • theRoUS

    Jane => chopped liver.

  • Adriano

    “Snap out of it, Droogan.”
