I’m calling it. Tenzin’s new name will be… Lord Vader.

    Loving the page, Sebas. :D

  • Nate the Robot

    Amazing designs on this page!

        • Also some convenient inverted text ;)

AI room 3 of unknown total.

            Armor suit 1.32
            Armor suit 2.01?

          • Hornet

You forgot the towers occupied: 1/8
So there are a least 3 rooms, if each holds 8 towers that’s a potential 24 AI’s total. Not sure if there’s a Aegis unit listing anywhere.

          • Matt [in Middletown]

Yeah, I hadn’t been paying attention to the text initially.

  • Adriano

Someone needs to tell Angeline she would be sexier with a piercing on her lower lip. Like this one :
And Janzin will soon be reality ! Mwahahahah, science b**ch !

    • I think the last person who told her that had Jane bothering him until he took an assignment out into the boonies.

      • Adriano

        Why ? :'(

        • Matt [in Middletown]

Fail trombone at every door, fart sounds upon trying to speak, emails vandalised, lights in his room behaved oddly all night.
If it was electronic, he had issues with it.
He now has a quiet assignment with minimal tech involved.

          • Adriano

Does nobody else than me think a labret would suit her ?

          • Matt [in Middletown]

            Not sure.
I think she’d have any kind of piercing or tattoo out of plain sight, hidden.

          • Delta-v

I doubt if she’d be interested in any body mod that didn’t increase her efficiency in her work. :)

          • Matt [in Middletown]

It would be enhanced synth muscle implants or a neural storage device.

          • Like HAL? ;)

          • Matt [in Middletown]

We haven’t exactly seen “him” yet, but have heard from him.
His exact nature is currently unknown.
But he seems to be more of a semi-chatty palm pilot at the moment.
Unless he is a neural storage implant that has a distinct separate personality?
[I suspect you will eventually show him to us.]

          • He looks kind of like a big black tower with a big red eye… ;)

But he serves as Angeline’s external memory device, basically. Why get an implant?

          • Matt [in Middletown]

Internal “offsite” storage onhand without the mess of having someone possibly snoop what you are doing like can happen with actual connections.
Like we just watched Jane do.
Some things are just too important to be left to systems that could be compromised.
A self destruct in event of someone attempting to surgically remove and read it would be handy.
            Oh god, I’m a villain..

          • Adriano

I don’t think Angeline could sacrifice her beautiful body in order to protect some datas.
            I hope so, at least…

          • Delta-v

We haven’t seen any proof that Angeline cares about any human except Lily. Everything about her is utilitarian with no effort toward style or glamour. I still think she’s more comfortable with AIs.

Even though she’s working to help Tenzin, she certainly doesn’t like him. I think she programmed more human emotions into Jane than she, herself possesses.

          • DrCrazy102

Oh the irony, the robot lady makes a lady robot ;P

          • Adriano

Hm I see. It makes sense.
She’s not the warmest person on Minerva for sure.

          • Matt [in Middletown]

Do you know how much free space for storage the human body has?
It’s weird, there’s space along the femur, hollows of the hips, and some spots along the arm bones.
Small enough storage could easily fit without being terribly noticeable exteriorily.
Passively powered, it would be dormant until purposely made active.
Actually, perfect for infiltrators and very scatter minded scientists.

          • Adriano

Aweesome. I need to fill those spaces ! *run in order to grab some usb keys and hide them in my body*

          • Matt [in Middletown]

            Lol.
Same concept, but this would be a custom build.
Possibly built in place by the nanobots.

          • Delta-v

Unless I missed it, I’m surprised that no one has commented on his name. O.o

          • DrCrazy102

I think there was a small comment a while ago about HAL, but we all knew. ;)

          • SlashyTheCow

            *AHEM*
Daniel has been playing with HAL references ever since i pointed out Jane’s dialogue was eerily similar.

            I fear I have spawned a monster.

          • DrCrazy102

I think this monster was created a /long/ time ago and has just been watching ever since, almost monolithically. ;P

          • Hopefully you’re calling me a monster and not HAL. That would at least make sense, even if it was hurtful :P

          • DrCrazy102

You know we mean your HAL referencing, you’re too nice to be monster. Though killing off Jacqueline like that … that was a hard blow since Jane would have had potential competition creating even more antics.

          • Adriano

            Huhuhu oh you !

Soundtrack for the work going on.

    • Ydo Ucare

I’m pretty sure that Angeline doesn’t spend much time worrying about whether or not people will think she’s sexy. Which is exactly why she’s awesome. Also I love that you guys don’t put her in ridiculous outfits. She would be super mad at you if you did. So far it sure seems like she’s an actual character, not just misogynist-driven eye candy. Same thing with Jane. So three cheers for the rare web comic that doesn’t objectify women! Although we’ll see if that holds up as the story continues. *crosses fingers*

      • I like how you think. You’re sharp.

        • Adriano

          Ba-dum Tsss !

    • No idea why your phone won’t allow an upload. That’s a phone thing.

      • Adriano

Kay thanks ! It’s not umportant anyway

  • They’re going to rebuild him!

    • Delta-v

We prefer to call it “refurbishing”. :)

    • Make him better than he was before…except for slowing down when the action speeds up! XD

  • Neil Kapit

This page is a fever dream for powered armor/cybernetics fans. Seba really knocked it out of the park.

    • Sebastián Piriz

      Thanks :)

  • :kicks down door:
WHY IS THIS MODEL NOT ANATOMICALLY CORRECT

    • Unless….it IS correct. At least for Tenzin ;P

But mostly because Angeline didn’t want to :P

      • :shoves Dan off a cliff:
P.S. Seba you did an amazing job on this page it’s wonderful

        • “”I’m not sorreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee”*kersplat*

          • Matt [in Middletown]

            “I have no regreeeeeeets!”
            LOL!

          • DrCrazy102

*Shoots portals and forms an infinite loop*
            “Now, what if I just … ”
*pushes slice of cake ever closer but keeps it just out of reach*
            XP

        • Thanks! :)

      • If it is correct then Tenzin need`s another carbon nanotube micofibril and a neural integration node to make it work properly… that would be way into rule 34

        • And here I thought he only lost two limbs.

        • DrCrazy102

hehe, Jane would have had control over some of those functions. *sniggers at all the jokes now being thought up*

  • DrCrazy102

Ok, so we have 3 rooms for AI physical storage (kept at a lovely 8 Celsius) and yet the third only contains Jane’s ‘physical’ body? How many AI’s have ‘died’ over the years? Or are the other rooms semi-full/filled with other AIs but Jane just needs some space?

We also have a JANE NEURAL INTEGRATION NODE! IN TENZIN’S HEAD! *victory dance for the upcoming Janzin ship* Well, there’s nodes in the right shoulder and left hip, as well as an “Oracle Core” (= Jane’s orb?) but that head node! Except, why the picture of a random? That doesn’t look like any Tenzin I’ve seen, but Tenzin is the only one that needs these kinds of implants and is missing those limbs UNLESS someone is willing to be a test subject and lose two of their limbs in the name of science … nah, Janzin is too appealing.

Poor Dr Bellami, having to reverse-engineer an APER, build a usable neural network and devices to replace Tenzin’s APER-boomed limbs and let Jane into Tenzin’s mind, and she has to worry about a ‘teenage’ Jane possibly developing a love-interest and getting moody. *Burst out laughing* Daniel Sharp, SebasP, Delta-v and @NickDA, you have certainly made Angeline’s life hard, to say the least XD. I wonder what the other Oracles are doing in their labs and if it will be revealed?

Huh, just had a look at the little nueral suit picture and (after also reading through some comments) found that it says suit version 1.32. How many versions are (read: how long before) we looking at having before Angeline and Jane are ready to test the limbs?

    • DrCrazy102

Wait, is the random actually Technician Wheeler of the Keleres Unit?

      • Well, he WAS just calling ;)

        • Matt [in Middletown]

I do note that in the background there is a left hand being built when it is Capt Dorje’s right hand missing.
So, uh, who’s the other hand for?

          • Huh. @sebastinpriz:disqus is that an inverted image problem? I THINK it was supposed to be a right hand.

          • Matt [in Middletown]

It would still work as you’d possibly need to make more limbs for others, better to make pairs and need only one.

          • Sebastián Piriz

Lets say Angeline has been developing limbs for a while already .. 😳

          • Sounds good ;)

          • Sebastián Piriz

To be fair, I never liked the fiction scientist that invent a solution to a plot problem in a couple of scenes

          • DrCrazy102

I’ve been thinking this was months after Tenzin first lost some fairly important limbs? Especially considering the bureaucrats are actually starting to do stuff, which could be taken to indicate at least a month or maybe two, and then add on Tenzin’s “meditation” time while Jane played around with his mind and his body healed over the wounds. Probably looking at something close to at least 3 to 4 months all up, though that is just my guesstimation.

    • Matt [in Middletown]

Generic stock “human” to help visualize the rebuild, reupholster, and refurbishment of Tenzin.
I think he’d be mortified back into a coma if there was an accurate medical scan of himself in Doc Bellami’s office showing everything off to god and the great pumpkin.

      • DrCrazy102

The great pumpkin? That is a new one, I like it.

        • ZathrasSquared

          “The Great Pumpkin”
          It’s from Peanuts.

  • Honza Prchal

I dunno about all the enthusiasm for “aesthetic” body modifications like lip rings. If you’ve ever worked in a trauma unit, the appeal wears off (dig one nipple ring out of a lung or intestine … or even just deal with all the blood from a ring that got ripped out of, well, almost anywhere), so there’s likely not much call for it in a world like this one where grievous personal injury is sadly commonplace.
Besides, cool science types, especially ladies who don’t care to be “misogynistic eye candy” or have those they design be such (though said design MIGHT grant AIs a combat advantage) generally don’t feel the need to call attention to themselves. Less is more. Understated highlights the ideas over the mere person, and all that. Besides, she already has a fetchingly rounded Slavic face … what enhancement would she need?
The chess piece-like representations on the screen are fascinating, especially the dot indicating user focus or AI locus, which makes the “rook” at issue appear to become either a bishop or queen. Rather than speculate, i shall keep an open mind and prepare to be amazed.
I life the femur, which appears to be reticulated. That could be interesting. It’d enhance muscle power and survivability if the controller could anticipate movement by the femur or directed at it.

  • I kind of thought Tenzin was going to remain, er, limb-deprived and his suits would just have to make up for it. Y’know, a total BA when he’s on the battlefield, but in a wheelchair off-duty. This is cool too, but I dunno, it seems too easy. I kind of liked the idea of Disabled Tenzin. But then again, it would be awfully silly to expect a real-life soldier not to get prosthetic parts after an injury like that, so even I have to admit this is more realistic than what I was predicting.

    • ;) I don’t think you’ll end up being disappointed.

    • Realism didn’t stop the story from being awesome so far. As Dan said, I dont think you’ll be disappointed

    • Xylas Incarnum

… I really wonder why people keep thinking that the idea of practical realism in settings that support the technology for the deeds is a BAD thing.

Not trying to bash you or anything, It’s just something weird, well weird to me, that I’ve noticed a few times recently across a few webcomics’ respective comments sections recently.

      • I don’t think it’s bad to be realistic. I think it’s a good thing. I was just acknowledging that as much as I was looking forward to a certain scenario, I have to admit what they came up with makes more sense. Besides, I’m sure they have a lot of cool things in mind with those prosthetic limbs.

        • Xylas Incarnum

Fair enough. Still the Coincidences of that apparent thought is a bit… eerie.

  • Voduxe

Jane’s going to be implanted into him more directly? Cool.

    • Matt [in Middletown]

Bringing new meaning to “let me get some of this into you.”
Oh the jokes that could be had at Tenzin’s expense.
I suspect Jane would be the only one allowed wisecracks though.

      • DrCrazy102

I’m already looking at the whole “shared flesh and blood” and multi-personality jokes and compiling a list for the day that @sebastinpriz:disqus and @DaemonDan:disqus actually have Jane “put inside” Tenzin *snigger*

        • Matt [in Middletown]

We are so gonna be in trouble.
“May deathbot show mercy on our corporeal forms as Jane will have none.”

          • Adriano

            Amen.

There is this great game with aliens where you build this team and do turn based fighting! One of the “upgrades” is to stick a soldier into a a walking tank.

Sadly they lose their arms and legs in the “installation” but oh man are they walking badasses.

Tenzin should feel honored in being even slightly “preserved” XD
