Chapter 9: Page 5 - The Turkmen

Posted by / in Comic / 17 comments

The next faction to meet Tenzin is the Turkmen: nomadic hunters who brave the radioactive deserts of what used to be the Middle East in search of technology within the ruins they can trade and profit. All the details on them and the readers who developed them are available to read in the forums, including why they’re invading Minerva (same is true for all the other factions. Tons of worldbuilding I can’t include here).

Also, did you see the guest art I posted yesterday of deathbot? Well, deathbot’s HEAD.

Thanks to people who’ve been voting us up the ranks! Although with this large a jump, I suspect someone is rule-bending for us. Be careful! It’s not worth getting in trouble XD And thanks to all those who continue to be our Patrons. We appreciate it, and I have some ads running right now thanks to that $.

  • Aaah I love the implied motion here with the gunfire trail!

      Wizard Seba is a wizard.

      • Adriano

        “You’re a wizard, Seba !”

  • Matt [in Middletown]

    “I like..SWORD. It’s a personal weapon.” -Shadow Warrior, MS-Dos, back in the 90’s

  • He’s just mowing them over like grass. It’s kind of impressive to see him performing this well after everything that happened. No doubt Jane is helping a lot here, but still.

    • Chris Kotthoff

It’s not unrealistic for someone to fend off superior numbers with superior weapons and the proper protection. One real world example would be the North Hollywood Shootout: Two thugs held off the LAPD for almost an hour thanks to custom body armor and assault rifles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q44yGYlUoQQ

  • Adriano

    Those are ma guys :D
So proud to see them up <33333

"If you can't shoot at it, you can stab it !"

  • Hipopótamo

He finally uses the gun, which bodes bad on the marauders. The exoskeletons are really one of Minerva’s greatest tech achievements as they can have one-man armies like Tenzin here.

  • Chris Kotthoff

Great page! It reminds me a little of some Frank Frazetta work.

Many thanks to all the voters. @Delta-v must be busy this week, or he would be gushing, so I gush for him. Thanks! … but as Dan said… keep it legit ;)

    • Delta-v

I’m as nervous as Dan is about the sudden influx of voters. Almost overnight, we went from 18 - 20 per day to over 50, and I was waiting to see if it would top out there and hold. TWC takes a dim view of voting bots, so I want to see if this passes muster.

I do thank everyone who helped us break 1000 votes in a month. It is a milestone I want us to keep. ^^

  • Lirik

Hey! There are no fabulous battle fennecs! What a pity :’-(

    • Matt [in Middletown]

The society for the prevention of cruelty to comic creatures everywhere (phonetically “pocky”) threatened action if any battle fennecs were injured during the scene.
So it was offered for the Pocky representative to stand in for them.

    Heyyyyy!

I said earlier that I could vote multiple times with the help of the various locations I travel to for work each day but… To be honest, I haven’t gotten in more than two votes in a single day that way and some days I totally forget! I hope I didn’t scare you guys with my previous comment about how I could “help” us climb into 100 lol, I am completely clueless as to who really is responsible for this upsurge of votes. Did we rule out the possibility that there really is a new surge of voters? Does TWC get suspicious from votes cast through VPNs or from multiple IP locations right next to each other? (For example, I vote when I get to work and again when I get back).

Aside from that, these battle montages are kicking some serious butt! Keep up the great work!

    • Delta-v

Don’t worry. Everything you have been doing is perfectly legal, and voting on multiple computers on different IP locations is even suggested by the TWC Powers That Be. I’m not programmer enough to explain exactly what they don’t like, but they do cast a jaundiced eye on any comic that shows a strange voting pattern.

I sincerely hope that this is all on the up-and-up, and we have enough readers to make it happen that way, but I tend to be overly cautious about stuff that can hurt us in the end. :)

    • NickDA

I reminded a few of my friends and co-workers pretty heavily… teased a few about not loving me…. you know, standard emotional manipulation :D
