April Fools!

Posted by / in Blog / 3 comments

Actually, the joke is that there is no joke. Think about that one.

News update and stuff. We ended up taking 2nd in the vote contest through Top Web Comics we’ve been talking about for awhile. We couldn’t get 1000 votes in a day like the other guy somehow did. Magically.

But, the contest organizers are giving us all the same rewards to acknowledge and reward our hard work promoting them. If you go to their main page you should see a blurb up at the top (permalink in case it changes). I love the word choice used. I recommend you read it yourself ;) You’ll also see that we have a GIF ad up, as one of the rewards for 2nd place. Having that ad has brought up our page views to an average of 2000 a day this last week. That plus the new Top 100 ranking for April (vote, btw) has us today at almost 4000 page views!

So as stressful and annoying as the contest was (which I won’t really get into here), it was beneficial, and got a lot more eyes on our project. Heck, some of you reading this might even have come from clicking our ad or something. Welcome! ;)

Anyways, just wanted to give you an update on everything. Stay tuned for a new page on Thursday by Seba. You’ll really enjoy it :D

The real secret here, is that TWC doesn’t really care how people play their games, as long as they play. The click is king. Advertising their advertising this way is cheaper and more effective than any other format. They sold far more advertising than they gave away, and will sell even more in the future, and that’s the bottom line.

    I’m glad we played. :)

Sneaky of them no? Getting other people to advertise for them. Brilliant strategy. I like how they’ve updated the style of the April contest (as well as the TWC Regulations: http://topwebcomics.com/TWCRegulations.aspx) to avoid some of the contest issues/drama the March one suffered from.
