    ALL ALONE

  • Honza Prchal

    Left with “very bad things”.
Relaxation, the time when something wicked this way comes.
“Oh, but you are alone. Who knows what you have spoken to the darkness, alone, in the bitter watches of the night, when all your life seems to shrink, the walls of your bower closing in about you, a hutch to trammel some wild thing in? So fair, yet so cold like a morning of pale Spring still clinging to Winter’s chill. “

    • NickDA

      source?

      • Honza Prchal

Tolkien. That’s Grima Wormtongue, speaking in the films (I found that quote faster) a reasonably accurate (I’ve looked it up before) transposition straight from the written page, in this case The Two Towers.
Poor Eowyn. Tolkien does get women pretty well (the book/books was/were inspired by the classic romance life-story of his courting his wife - I use both plural and singular because The Lord of the Rings was published as a trilogy because of Britain’s socialist-related paper-shortage), but readers can be forgiven for missing that.

        • NickDA

You sir… are my kinda book nerd… :D And yeah, the part “walls of your bower closing in about you” rung a bell, but I was on my way out the door so figured I’d ask rather than starting a google. @Honzinator:disqus - I love the “random” historic factoids you have.

          • Honza Prchal

Thanks NickDA and Daniel Sharp, for the kind words. I have a sudden urge to recommend you both see the film “Nick of Time”, which generally appeals to people with similar sensibilities … who also like firearms, though not critics (perhaps because the conceit is a bit preposterous).

          • NickDA

added to the watch list. Johnny Depp in a somewhat serious role… madness?

          • Matt [in Middletown]

In the book, Grima cuts Saruman’s throat with a hidden knife, then runs for a bit before getting arrow’d in the back by Hobbit archers not far from Bag End in Hobbiton.
That’s when everyone looks at the corpse of Curinir and note that it is shriveling, his spirit rises from the dust, looks (if memory serves) east and is blown away by the wind.

      • Cmon Nick, you didn’t instantly recognize that? For shame. I don’t even know you anymore ;P

    • To which Jane undoubtably replies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ

      • Adriano

Well, apart the fact that this song is a trolling meme, Jane surely is cute!
I mean, playing/singing this to her friend/partner shows so much how she cares about Tenzin. And how much she’s cute and smart!
Ah, Jane, I wish I could have YOU by my side!

        • NickDA

sad how disqus ruins the RickRoll troll by expanding it out… I’m tempted to open a help ticket to them about that. — the best I could do: https://twitter.com/ThriveDev/status/732632483431211008

          • Well I have a setting that would disallow the media embedding of pictures and videos. The link would be there, but it wouldn’t show up.

          • Adriano

Ahahah, awesome! Imma add something, wait

  • Matt [in Middletown]

“….Randy still owes me a beer.” *sulk*

    • Matt [in Middletown]

“Tenzin, you doof. Your suit dispenses beer! What do you think those things on your shoulders are for?!” -Randy 2.0

      • PDCs - Pint Dispensing Containers. Obviously.

        • Matt [in Middletown]

          The mystery is solved!

  • whale

The empty seats, the echoes of ghosts.

    • Adriano

      DO YOU HEAR THEIR SCREAMS?

      Because I surely do.

      • Matt [in Middletown]

That’s just the ghost rockband tryouts.

        • You’ve caught me. This is all a lead up to a paranormal rock band slice of life comic.

          • Matt [in Middletown]

The Secret: Jane is the ghost of Indira.

          • Pff, she obviously got reincarnated as Lily. I thought that was obvious.

          • Matt [in Middletown]

            Well.. drats

          • Actually, I really like that I idea. Assuming this is a story where reincarnation is a thing (or at least not something that’s definitively written off), I might just headcanon that.

          • I will allow you to headcanon that ;)

          • Random Guy

Headcannons are dangerous, you have to be careful of recoil from the plottwists.

          • Adriano

Nah, Jane is the ghost of Tenzin’s gf… She doesn’t exist for real :D :D :D

            .

            .

            .

(except in a small ball of organic compunds but you get the joke)

  • After-Action Review, and The Inevitable Report.

    • “Ugh there is going to be SO much paperwork to fill out for this! … I wonder if I can get Jane to do it all…”

      • Adriano

        x’D
        Could he?
Find out in the next page of The Demon Archives: Paperwork Apocalypse!

        • Random Guy

I thought that was thwarted in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?

          • Adriano

            Eh?

          • Did you ever read that book? Osviously a reference of some kind. I’m not sure EXACTLY to what as it’s a been a bit since I read them :)

  • I’d be moody too if somebody scribbled hatch marks all over my face. (Don’t kill me, Seba! I do like the effect.)

    • Matt [in Middletown]

Jane abused the face paint applicator inside the helmet, Tenzin just figured that out.

    • ha ha you’re so funny ( sarcasm )
